From our Community Group - 10th February

The Week Ahead – Monday 13th – Sunday 19th Feb

Parent Satisfaction Survey

This week you would have received an email with a link to the Parent Satisfaction survey. Along with the School we would encourage you all to complete this. The deadline is the 20th February 2017. It is an excellent way to relay your thoughts and provide constructive feedback to the School. They use this information in a positive way to help benefit us all.

Coming up….

  • Welcome Back Lunch – Wednesday 22nd February, 2017

Don’t forget to sign up for this lovely lunch at El Willy on The Bund from 11:30-2:00pm. It’s such a great chance to catch up with friends, or meet new ones, after the Chinese New Year break.

Please pop your 250RMB into Wednesday, 15th February

Note: if you have any food allergies or are vegetarian please indicate on the envelope. The menu is attached and includes a glass of Cava on arrival and a glass of wine with your meal (or soft drinks if you prefer).

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible.

‘Food for thought’…

At this particularly cold time of the year, we need to spare a thought for those families living around us, and further afar, who can’t afford heating, blankets, or even shelter. There are children waking up with freezing little hands and toes and only each other to keep themselves warm.

Each week, a group of our Mums from NAIS Pudong, head down to the Hui Xin orphanage where they see first hand circumstances such as this. The orphanage is home to a group of underprivileged children, all of whom suffer from physical and/or mental challenges. The Mums from NAIS donate one morning of their time each week to put some cheer and love into these childrens lives.

The Community Group also sets aside funds each year to provide the orphanage with baby seats, blankets and other necessary items such as food. These funds come from the money we raise through school events.

The NAIS ladies who visit the orphanage take a bag of toys each week for the children to play with. At the moment, they are a little low on toys, so if you have 1 or 2 pre-loved toys in good condition which they could add to their collection, please send them into school and leave at Reception marked Hui Xin donation. Examples of ‘safe’ toys that can be used are:

  • Building blocks eg duplo (no lego please)
  • Rolling toys e.g. cars
  • Jigsaw puzzles (large chunky pieces)
  • Rubber/plastic toys – dinosaurs, animals, dolls, Tea sets/cooking sets

Please note, the following are unfortunately not suitable:

  • NO small pieces
  • NO sharp/dangerous objects
  • NO heavy objects
  • NO soft toys

If you would like to join the group of Mums who go each week, they are always looking for volunteers. Please contact toni.crowther@xtra.co.nz. They go every Thursday morning for a couple of hours.

如果你有兴趣参加每周的孤儿院拜访,请联系 toni.crowther@xtra.co.nz.
