Year 3 Week Ahead Information

An overview of the week ahead in Year 3

  • Shakespeare and Science in Year 3

Information and Reminders

  • Please make sure you also let the class teacher know if your child’s end of day arrangements have been changed so there is no confusion.
  • Please make sure your child brings a water bottle to school.
  • Reading challenge – You need to sign and date your child’s learning journal 3 times in one week after you have heard them read then they will receive a Dojo point. If children are not reading regularly at home then they will attend lunchtime reading club on a Friday. We hope for your support!
  • We will change to summer uniform when we return from the April holidays. Please visit the school website or check in your child’s Learning Journal for the appropriate clothing, which can be purchased at our uniform shop.

Tuesday 28th March – Author Neil Griffiths visiting NAIS Pudong, including a Parent Workshop from 9am to 10am

Star of the Week

3A –  Adriana Malik for writing an excellent diary entry and retelling the story of As you like it.

3B –  Yuval Yshimoni and Diya Jaiswal for fantastic drama work during Shakespeare Week.

3C – Dafni Tsatsaros for being the star actor of the class during Shakespeare Week.

 

English

Next week we will research and look at our homework questions in preparation for the author Neil Griffiths’ visit. We will focus on improving grammar focus areas, such as using punctuation correctly and improving our sentence structure. We will write a recount of our trip to the museum.

In Guided Reading we will focus on individual reading and completing a range of reading comprehensions independently.

 

Maths

Next week our new unit is ‘Presentation of data’. We will interpret and present data using bar charts, pictograms and tables through a range of chosen topics by the children, e.g. What is the classes favourite dinosaur?

We will solve one-step and two-step questions [for example, ‘How many more?’ and ‘How many fewer?’] using information presented in scaled bar charts and pictograms and tables.

 

Topic

We will continue to be Artists, by completing our paintings of a space themed picture in the style of artist Peter Thorpe, using an abstract art background and space feature in the foreground. We will extend our Society task by creating light festival decorations.

We are very excited to end our topic Thursday with our Exit Point to the museum. Please make sure you have returned the permission slip to your child’s class teacher.

 

Computing

We will end our topic by looking at the responses from children across the school on a topic in school, e.g. Homework and then analyse the results by creating graphs feeding back to the School Council.
