From the Director of Music and the Arts

As a new term begins we look forward to some exciting Juilliard activities ahead. Firstly we will welcome back Andrea Lee, our curriculum specialist, for a two-day visit in May (15th &16th).  During Ms Lee’s visit she will work with the Performing Arts department and work within the classrooms with students of all ages. Ms Lee will also be working with our school orchestra in preparation for their upcoming performance at the Stage and Screen Concert (23rd May).

In my capacity as Juilliard Leader for China I am very keen to give our pupils at NAIS Pudong the full range of the Performing Arts experience that Juilliard offer and not just Music. We can’t wait for more Julliard alumni visitors to perform and conduct master classes for our students.

Following this, we are organising a fantastic visit from Juilliard Alumni students who are now working as professional actors. You may remember that last term we welcomed Ingrid, a professional dancer who is currently in Shanghai performing in Sleep No More. Ingrid was very impressed with our students during her visit to NAIS Pudong.

This term we will welcome Ingrid and her colleague, who is also performing in Shanghai at Sleep No More, to NAIS Pudong to work with our talented dancers. This will be another fantastic visit and I hope it will encourage more of the boys to look at Dance in a different light after seeing Ingrid’s male colleague perform.
