Alan ran INSET workshops for teachers at schools in England, Wales, Spain, South Africa and Malaysia. Additionally, he was the creator of a number of study skills courses and memory-improvement programmes which he delivered to students all over the UK.
Desiring to return to full-time, class-based teaching because he missed the challenges and opportunities it offered, he chose to teach at NAIS Pudong because its BE AMBITIOUS ethos resonated deeply with his desire to help students be the best they can be.
In addition to teaching EAL across the school, Alan also teaches IGCSE English as a Second Language Years 10 and 11, and IB English B, Years 12 and 13. He is also the SAT Supervisor for the school and runs IELTS preparation classes as part of the CCA programme.
Alan has also been Head of NAIS Pudong’s Summer School for two years.
He loves watching nature documentaries. He lives with eight cats and 3 rabbits, and he believes firmly in the rights of animals.
A keen writer, Alan’s poetry has been published in magazines and websites worldwide; his plays have been performed in South Africa and Wales – and his novel was published a few years ago. His next book is going to be about cats. And a few rabbits.
