At the early age of 14, Craig knew he wanted to follow a path in the teaching profession and to help inspire others, just as his PE teacher helped to inspire him whilst at school. After his A-levels he studied a four-year BA (Hons) Degree in Physical Education with Qualified Teacher Status at the University of Brighton. Craig taught in the UK for 10 years before deciding to teach abroad. It had long been his ambition to travel and teach and, when an opportunity to work in Shanghai, he leapt at the chance. NAIS Pudong is his first international post.
Alongside teaching, he has played and coached football to a high level. He played semi-professional football and also played for Blackburn Rovers for a season as a youth player. He has coached football at youth academies such as Plymouth and Southampton and was the U15 Jersey National School Team coach for three years. Football continues to be a big part of his role at NAIS Pudong and he is proud of how much football has developed at the school over the past few years. He is truly proud to call himself a Tiger!
Throughout his life, Craig has dedicated himself to playing, teaching and coaching sport. In sport lies his passion. He is a keen boxer and has dedicated himself to the sport in recent years, having fought once in Shanghai and planning to do so again. As Mohammed Ali once said, “True champions are not made in the gym, they are made from something deep inside them – a dream, a vision, a desire.” Motivation and dedication to a goal or dream is what drives people to be winners. Craig hopes to inspire those he teaches and coach to be the best they can be – on and off the field.
