Rugby

Our rugby programmes are well organised offering continuity through the teams and year groups. The structure allows our best players access to high class coaching and allows those who are developing their skills plenty of opportunity to progress through the teams.

All sides will have the opportunity to train twice a week, with matches taking place on Saturday mornings.  The rugby club is designed to give everyone an opportunity to train and learn the sport with a competitive fixture at the weekend for all abilities.

The first term is our U18s boys who take part in SISAC and ACAMIS competition. They compete at both 10-a-side and 15-a-side games. During the second term our Minis (U11s and U9s) participate in their season. This is open to all abilities and both boys and girls. The third term is for all our junior boys (U15s and U13s) and runs until the end of May. This year we have entered an end of season tournament in Beijing on the 31st of May.

Coaching Staff

Every coach is a member of staff who will manage the team; each member of staff is supported with a qualified or highly experienced rugby coach who is a member of the PE department. This keeps the school rugby club up to date with the latest rugby practices and offers opportunity for position specific training sessions.

Teams

We field teams at the following age groups; U-11, U-13, U-15 and U19’s who compete in local leagues with other Shanghai international schools. The U19’s compete under the Shanghai International Athletic Conference (SISAC) in the East League and ACAMIS, which involves schools from Hong Kong

We host a number of tournaments and cross-training opportunities; in the past year we have hosted a number of overseas teams and coaches who have given our boys inspiration for the game.

Successes
