Swimming takes place in the school’s own pool year-round. The focus for swimming, both as part of the curriculum and as a club and competitive sport, is on safe participation.
Boys and girls are encouraged to try-out for the Swim Squads which train and compete on a regular basis. We are interested in nurturing talent and performance through knowledge of core skills and building strength in and out of the pool. Though swimming is predominantly an individual sport, we instil the same positive attitudes we do across all sports which value respect, commitment, determination and team work.
The Swim Squad, is quickly developing a strong reputation amongst the big fish on the Shanghai Swim League, with some fantastic individual performance from our squad members.
It is our inaugural year of competition and we have entered several events this year, to give our members exposure and to provide them with the competitive challenge, which will ensure they remain driven and focused in training.
This sports programme is very competitive and selections are based on times.
A team of coaches manages each Swim Squad. All coaches have a good level of playing and coaching experience. Our Swimming programme and Swim Squads are also supported by external coaches from Multisport, who provide the expertise and qualifications to allow our programme to develop and give access to the whole school to participate.
This year the school entered the ACAMIS swim tournament for the 1st time in its history at Nanjing International School and will look to build on the success that was achieved and seek further tours during the Shanghai Swim League Season.
