Your stay in Florida
Students and chaperones from all schools will be staying at the Courtyard Orlando Lake Buena Vista, which is a 15 minute drive southeast from Windermere Preparatory School. The official host hotel of the 2018 Global Games, The Americas offers 2 pools, a game room, a convenience store and a bistro, and is just five miles away from Downtown Disney. We will also have an overflow hotel called the Hyatt Place Orlando due to the Global Games increasing numbers. This hotel is across the street from the Courtyard.
Students will check-in on Tuesday, November 27th and depart on Saturday, December 1st. Chaperones will have their own room, while children will have their own bed in a shared room with one or two other students. Breakfast will be served each morning and is included in the room rate. Please note Windermere Preparatory students will not stay at this hotel.
When your child arrives, they will register at the hotel to receive name badges, tickets and passes for evening activities, as well as room keys and a pack with more information on the schedule. Schools will be assigned a registration time to cut down on queues.
All travel to the hotel and the school will be arranged by Nord Anglia Education. Students flying from out of state will be met at Orlando International Airport and transported to the hotel by bus, while Florida students will travel by bus to and from the hotel.
There are also prearranged buses to Windermere Preparatory School, the hotel, and to all evening activities.
All flights will be booked by Nord Anglia Education. It will be the responsibility of the parents to drive their student to and from their home airport. Chaperones will only allow drop off and pick up of students with a parent present. Please arrange to have at least one parent arrive and pick up at the arranged meeting point.
Your child’s safety is our highest priority. Throughout the Global Games, your child will be assigned a chaperone to ensure that your child is supervised. Chaperones will be required to attend the entire week of the Global Games. Each chaperone will be in charge of ten students. Chaperones will be appointed by the Athletic Director of each school. Only school staff may chaperone.
