LA SEMAINE DE LA FRANCOPHONIE AT LCIS – UN REEL SUCCES !!!

LCIS first celebration of “La semaine de la Francophonie” was a true success! Thanks to several weeks’ preparations and total dedication from the French team, students from Primary and Secondary have been able to research, reflect and have fun while learning about « la Francophonie » this week.  Celebrated throughout the world, week 14th-22nd March is a very special moment for all French speaking countries and citizens and it certainly was in Aubonne too!

Every morning, Secondary students had a great start of the day with a short challenge: “how to write a tongue-twister?”  Very much enjoyed by all, it was qualified as “difficile” by some but “rigolo” most of all!  The day continued with numerous interesting French lessons interrupted at lunch by very good lunches from different French speaking countries prepared by our chef.  Lunch was quickly followed by a pleasant musical moment when we could listen to some francophone music across the whole school.

During French classes, all students had activities focused around la Francophonie. To name but a few examples, some Primary students researched and made posters on French speaking countries while others learnt many beautiful songs by heart: " Sacré Charlemagne", "Ensemble", “Ode à la Francophonie” . A few of these songs were presented and recorded at Friday’s Assembly for our greatest joy and others will be presented on 1st April at International Day.

As for our MYPs, some had the opportunity to research about their favourite French singers, analyse their songs, lyrics and biography.  Some students worked on the famous “Stromae” and his even more notorious song “Papaoutai” while others more generally on SLAM (Slam is a mix of poetry, lyrics both sang and spoken, mixing rhythms, rimes and different intonations). MYP4-5 preferred to research on famous francophone designers and MYP1 made beautiful posters on French speaking countries.

These few words cannot give justice to all the amazing work produced this week and in order for you to admire the work of your children, I would strongly invite you to come and visit the school some time in the next few weeks.  Wonderful displays will be up in the Zone de Vie for you to have a look!

Also, we hope to soon be able to show you on one of our screens in reception, a video produced by some MYP students.  This video encapsulates the wonderful spirit of this week where students interviewed pupils and teachers alike about the event!

Enfin, mes derniers mots s’adresseront à l’excellente équipe de professeurs de français sans qui le succès de cette semaine n’aurait pas été possible.
