Academic Excellence

At La Côte International School Aubonne, we foster in our students the confidence to ‘dare to dream’. We passionately believe that through a motivating and supportive learning environment, our students will achieve far beyond what they ever thought possible.

  • IBDP International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Students throw their hats in the air

We believe there is no limit to what students can achieve socially, personally and academically. This year, our students’ academic results reflect our shared commitment to excellence in this area.

2021 IB Diploma Results Highlights

Our 2021 IBDP results showcase a number of impressive statistics for this cohort, both on an individual level and collectively:

  • Our students’ average score in the IB Diploma was 36, the school’s best ever results and nearly 10% higher than the 2021 world average.

  • 27% of students achieved 40 points or more, a result achieved by just 9% of IBDP graduates worldwidethis year. This level of attainment provides LCIS students with the opportunity to gain admission into elite universities across the globe and, along with our outstanding overall pass rate, demonstrates that LCIS supports every student in achieving exceptional academic standards irrespective of their starting point.

  • Georgia Severson, our top points scorer with 43 points, has gained an undergraduate place at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the United States, currently ranked the top university in the world.

  • No less than 43% of our students obtained a bilingual diploma, giving them a significant advantage when choosing universities and entering employment

  • 95% pass rate, compared to the world average of 89% in 2021.

By nurturing success, our graduates go on to attend world-leading universities including prestigious Russell Group Universities and World’s Top Universities, creating pathways to diverse and impressive careers.

This year, our students have received multiple offers from prestigious academic institutions including MITUniversity of Toronto, Ecole Hôtelière de Lausanne and some of the top UK universities .

2020 IGCSE Highlights

  • In the IGCSE examinations, 91% of our students achieved grade 5 or above (referred to in the UK as a ‘high pass’)

  • 19% achieved the top grade (grade 9) whilst 64% achieved grades 7-9, which has always been the UK government benchmark for excellence. To set this in context, this year 28% of students in the UK achieved this level in GCSE examinations.

  • LCIS for the first time achieved more highly than the average across Nord Anglia Education schools in every measure, a true comparison and a first for the school (NAE IGCSE 7-9 56%).
