I am passionate about personalised education for all. It has been my pleasure to be a part of LCIS since 2010 and to see it grow. I have been a teacher in primary schools, as well as an SEN specialist, for almost 20 years, and I hope to continue to help our students succeed and flourish for many years to come!

I am a graduate of University College Dublin with a BA in Psychology. I have a Postgraduate Certificate of Education and a Diploma in Special Educational Needs, and have been a teacher for all age groups in Primary for almost 20 years, specialising in KS1. I was a special educational needs (SEN) coordinator in a school in the UK where the SEN provision was rated Outstanding by Ofsted. I have worked for a local education authority as a lead teacher for special educational needs and as an advisor for schools. Since 2010 I have been working at LCIS, and am now Deputy Head of Primary. Outside school, I enjoy being in the great outdoors of Switzerland, especially skiing, hiking, climbing, and cycling.

Alexa Prior
Deputy Head of Secondary
From the positive education experiences I myself enjoyed in my younger years and the amazing memories I formed, I’m delighted that I too can help create something similar for others, knowing that our teachers can make a difference to each and every child in their care.

I grew up in the seaside town of Bournemouth in the UK, where my education experience helped shape the person I am today. I went on to study Anatomy and Developmental Biology at University College London, where my passion for biology was cemented. It was after this I decided to help others understand the wonders of biology, and continued on a teaching career path with a Postgraduate Certificate of Education and work experience in London.

After 13 years in a leading Surrey independent boarding school for boys, seven years ago I moved to Switzerland to join LCIS, where I’m now Deputy Head of Secondary. In my time here, the school has continued to improve academically, but the students’ experiences have always remained at the centre of everything we do. We’re so proud of the students we’re helping to shape.

Since achieving my degree in Primary Education in 2010 from the University of Aberdeen, I have had the pleasure of teaching students from varied backgrounds and cultures in Scotland, Qatar, the UAE, and now Switzerland. During my teaching career I’ve taken on various additional roles, such as Maths Subject Leader, Head of Infants and Upper School, and most recently Assistant Head of Primary here at LCIS, with a focus on curriculum development.

I have enjoyed teaching across both Key Stages 1 and 2, and endeavour to create a positive ethos in my classes. I love that at LCIS I can provide stimulating and innovative learning experiences to support and challenge my students as they work to realise their potential. Technology has always been an area of interest for me, and with the quality resources we have I’m able to enhance my students’ love of learning.

Outside school I enjoy spending time with my family, my wife and two young children. At the weekend we can often be found at a park or walking through forests, all of which are just outside our front door!

TEACHER DEVELOPMENT

Our teaching is held to the highest standards and therefore we recruit the best teachers through local and international search and develop them through our own professional development programmes, examination body accreditation and Nord Anglia University. We continuously evaluate their teaching through regular observations and reviews, offering teachers the opportunity to reflect on their approaches and practices, and against school and global benchmarks as well as Nord Anglia’s quality assurance framework, based on best practice from education providers and inspection bodies around the world. We conduct international background checks on all staff, and receive high-level training in child protection and safeguarding.  Our work is strongly supported by Nord Anglia's Global Education Team, which drives success in academics, quality assurance, accreditation and safety across all Nord Anglia schools.
