Roots and Shoots
Changing the world- a dream buried in the heart of young students worldwide. This year, BSB's Roots & Shoots club is making that dream a reality. Student-led and results-oriented, this unique club is an unprecedented hub for ideas - ideas that respond to modern society's biggest challenges. Every meeting, students brainstorm projects to improve the status quo- recent ideas include working with disabled children, animal shelters, reducing our electricity consumption and a veritable explosion of others. Our students are determined to change the world using the power of their own ideas- at school level, city level and country level.
The future is bright for our students and our club. There is recruiting still to do, and our projects are just about to take off. Already events are lining up for Roots and Shoots, starting with an exciting meeting with founder Dr Jane Goodall and a presentation at WAB in November. This we are particularly looking forwards to, as it'll allow us to be inspired by Dr Goodall herself, and will truly establish the base of our club.
The BSB Christmas fair is another fantastic opportunity for students to find out more about who we are and how they can achieve the impossible with our help, and will also act as a fundraiser for us to execute our projects. This new approach might just change the world- but most importantly, it is already changing us.
If you are interested in joining please see Marta Perez Fernandez (Year 13 student) or Mr Mounter in room 416. Meetings take place at 1pm every Thursday at lunch time.
