A spark of inspiration might come from anywhere: a book, a friend, a sight, an experience. Once found, who can truly tell if it might blaze into a new-found passion, or whether it might stoke old habits now forgotten?
One of our promises at the British School of Beijing is that we will offer you opportunities that are amazing and unique. It is a truism that these opportunities are most unique (and, of course, most amazing) when they come from you - our students.
This year we have a plethora of projects to enthuse and inspire. First up we have Debating; with competitive debates on regular basis, you can improve your skills of arguing (and hopefully for the powers of good!).
With a brand new opportunity to work with the prestigious Young Journalist Academy, we have a reporting... along with the excellent BBC News Report.
Creative writing is embedded in our curriculum, and is one of the most aspirational aspects of any schooling. You will have the opportunity to submit your writing to the Global Classroom short story competition (of which we have an excellent pedigree of winners), as well as conversing with published authors and other writers .
Music is to be shared, and with Global Classroom you will have the opportunity to be part of a CD shared across all 14,000 students in our schools.
Taking photographs is part of any international lifestyle: submit yours for the chance to win a place in our calendar.
Finally, we will run a 'Make it Right' project where you, the students, will have the opportunity to decide your own project that will impact an outside community.
And, of course, we will continue our expeditions and good work in Tanzania.
If you have an idea for a project you would like to run, or be part of, or just want to know more, then see Mr Anderson in B304, or contact him on firstname.lastname@example.org. ASA Times for Global Classroom Activities will be set depending on your interests.
