Year 5 have been having a fantastic time with poetry over the last few weeks.

They had the opportunity to listen to the teachers’ favourite poems before learning about lots of different types of poems then writing some of their own.

They had a great time reading some of their work to the rest of Year 5 and to the teachers who had read to them at the start of the unit. There was a fantastic mix of different forms of poetry, Haikus, Odes, free verse poems and even nonsense poetry.

In maths the children have been working on data handling. They developed their own questions about topics that interested them. One group asked how we could improve maths lessons (most children chose cooking!).

And finally in topic we have started our unit on Imperial China. So far we have been learning all about the Qin dynasty and the amazing things that were done during that time period.
