On Sunday, 27th of May, 2018, teachers from the Primary and Secondary sections of BSB Shunyi participated in an International School Teaching Staff Football tournament at Harrow International School, Beijing.

The names of the participating teachers in the BSB squad were as follows:

Coach: Stephen Casey

  • Andrew Brigstock (captain)
  • Clyde Mazie
  • Darren Byrne
  • Edward Davenport
  • Jakob Illek
  • Jamie Twinney
  • John Zheng
  • Joseph O’Donnell
  • Mahesh Warrier (goalkeeper)
  • Nicolas Dimakopoulos

11 different schools including one from Tianjing took part in this event. It was a very hot day with temperatures soaring to 35 degrees Celsius. In spite of very heavy odds stacked against them, BSB teachers performed impressively by firstly reaching the playoffs round and eventually the semi-finals of the tournament.

At the end of the tournament, the BSB team finished in fourth place and the final standings were as follows:

  • Harrow (team 1)-First place
  • Keystone-Second place
  • Harrow (team 2)-Third place
  • BSB Shunyi-Fourth place

Having trained every week on Tuesday evenings, the staff team ensured that their performance reflected their willingness to work hard towards set objectives and the team’s overall sportsmanship was well appreciated by all the other teams. Congratulations to everyone who participated and represented our school so amazingly well!

Mr. Mahesh Warrier
