Jungho Joo

Congratulations to BSB 2018 Graduate Jungho who has been accepted to study Economics at Seoul National University starting on 4th September 2018!

  • Jungho Joo

Jungho graudated in 2018 with an amazing IB Diploma score of 43 out of 45. He also achieved excellent IGCSE grades of 8A* and 4A in 2016.  He has been studying at BSB for 8 years.

Jungho shares with us the factors that contributed to his academic success and what is special about BSB.

“Motivation was important for me because if I did not have any, I would not have wanted to study. This may sound obvious, but it is often difficult to find a strong-enough motivator to make one study.

Additionally, I read text books and study guides over and over again. In the past, some teachers told me that reading text books is not studying; something has to be written down. I disagree. What I want to emphasise is that ‘the correct way’ does not exist.

In terms of past papers, I did solve quite a lot of them, but I did not merely focus on them. Of course, solving past papers enabled me to be familiar with the types of questions that IB tend to use. However, being over reliant on them can be dangerous as IB can occasionally be creative with their questions. This is why reading text books repetitively and understanding the concepts is extremely important.

BSB is special because of her people. Great teachers and great students—these are the factors that make BSB special.

Two of my best memories of my time at BSB are attending classes and residentials. Memories during classes are relatively ordinary, while memories during residentials are relatively extraordinary. But what made them the best memories are again the teachers and friends. It is these people that made ordinary memories special, and extraordinary memories even more special!”
