They decided together what most of the children like eating, and came up with pizza! After a long discussion about what should go on top of a good pizza, the children used their increasing knowledge of letter sounds to help them write a shopping list. We took our lists and walked to a local shop. We had a look around the shop and had lots of discussion about the types of things that were being sold, while looking for the ingredients they needed. The children handled the money and took turns to pay for their shopping, working out if they needed more money or if they were going to get some change back. Some of the children were happy to leave the change for someone else, while others simply wanted to walk out with out paying - though we discouraged both of these options! The children packed the shopping before walking back to school. Finally, they got to make and eat their very own pizzas! Well done, Reception!
