Year 3 had so much fun at Vertigo on Monday as they all took part in their discovery day. Any anxious faces quickly disappeared as they harnessed up and the fun began. The purpose of the day was to build relationships with each other which helped develop communication skills. We had to search the bouldering area to locate jigsaw pieces, working together to reach them to complete the puzzle. When it was time to climb we supported and encouraged our friends as they scaled the walls and climbed higher and higher, conquering any worries they initially had.
It was a really great experience and wonderful to watch the children develop friendships and try something new. In the afternoon we went to the local park for a picnic lunch and some games, which again encouraged the children to work together, and support and encourage each other as they found solutions to the 'problems' they encountered.
If your child has come home particularly enthused for rock climbing then Mr. Thorpe offers a rock climbing club at vertigo on a Monday. You may like to sign your child up for it in term 2 or 3.
