Children from Nursery, Reception and Year 1 are learning about Robin Hood, a story which has been passed down through generations. He is thought to have lived in Sherwood Forest in medieval times. Who was Robin Hood and his merry men? Where did Robin Hood live? Was Robin Hood real?

Some people believe that Robin Hood is a fictional character from stories, ballads and poems. Others believe that he really did exist and is thought to have been a popular person during the medieval times because of his generosity to the poor.

Our little explorers learnt some English history and compared this with a Slovak hero. His name is Janosik and he lived in the forest with the same lifestyle. We want to know how our heroes lived in the woods during the four seasons, where they lived, how they built shelters, what they ate and how they cooked food…

To these and others questions, we are looking for answers in the woods. We have a great deal of fun play with bow and arrows.
