I then decided to qualify as a primary school teacher and have worked as a Reception teacher since 2008. I find this age group equally rewarding and feel privilege to witness, and be part of, major milestones in the children’s learning, such as reading and writing. After working in Brunei for 4 years I was delighted to accept a job at the British School Bratislava in 2012.
At BISB I provide a learning environment that is safe, effective, stimulating, varied and progressive for all class members. Children learn in different ways and at different rates, and activities and learning in my classroom allow for these factors. At BISB, my early years experience has prepared me to follow effectively each individual child and give each one a rich active learning experience.
My husband, Nick, and I began teaching internationally in the year 2000 when we moved to Blantyre, Malawi. It was originally meant to be for two years, but today we are still teaching internationally! We are now a family of four: Josh, who is now 10, was born in Malawi and Toby, 9, was born in Thailand. We have had the privilege to work and experience the varied cultures of 6 different countries and 3 different continents. An education in itself! Outside teaching, I enjoy exercising and cooking, but as a mother of two boys my priority is to ensure they are happy and fulfilled.
