I studied Drama at university in Bristol, England. My course focussed on the practical elements of acting and directing, as well as reading and analysing plays from around the world. Although I am not able to apply what I learnt about Shakespeare in Year 1, I certainly draw upon elements of performance in the classroom every day!
I have spent over ten years working in primary schools now; including roles as an EAL Co-ordinator and Computing Lead. Most of this time has been in Year 1, but I have also spent some years teaching Year 2 and 3. My previous school was in a particularly deprived area of London, but the children made excellent progress and we were recently delighted to be graded 'outstanding' by Ofsted.
Outside of school, I enjoy playing and watching football, listening to music, playing the guitar and reading. I also enjoy writing children's books but I am yet to land a million pound book deal and follow in the footsteps of JK Rowling! Having said that, I feel privileged to be a teacher and have so much fun working with children every day!
