After completing my degree in English with Business Studies in 2008, I spent some time working in the wine industry. This experience taught me many valuable life skills, such as the importance of integrity, entrepreneurship and self-reflection. After some time living in Brazil, I was lucky to find my true calling in life: education. I moved to Brazil in 2014 and have been teaching an American curriculum in a school in São Paulo. Since then I have completed the PGCE international and am now fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work at BCB.
I have always been an avid reader; some of my favourites are Mark Twain, John Steinbeck and Charles Dickens. My philosophy about teaching English Language and Literature is to make the texts accessible to the students - this is even more essential in an international environment where we have non-native speakers. I think we are all able, regardless of our background, to appreciate good narrative, hone our interpretation skills and identify deeply with characters in stories and plays. This is how we build empathy, become more open-minded and take time to reflect on our own lives.
In my free time I love to read, run, play guitar, swim and play football when I can. Besides the teaching, I am really looking forward to getting involved with the pastoral and extra-curricular activities at BCB!
