Northbridge Nagas take on top regional teams at Senior Basketball ASAC

Senior Basketball ASAC was hosted at Northbridge International School Cambodia from 15-17 February 2019. In this tournament we were able to showcase both of our Senior A teams as well as our Boys B team. The weekend brought visitors from Wells, Logos, CIA, ISHCMC and VinSchool to Northbridge for the tournament.

Senior Boys A Team

The Senior boys A team brought a high level of play to the competition and although they narrowly lost some of their pool play games, still ended up in the top four.

During the playoff games the boys played Wells, the eventual champions, very closely in the first half. Although the boys had a strong second half they could not out score the opponent which sent them to the 3rd / 4th place finals versus ISHCMC.

The bronze medal game was again very close and the boys played well and connected in the first half as a team. However, in the second half the boys were once again unable to hold the lead and ended in 4th place. Kim Son Lim was named all tournament athlete for the Senior Boys.

Senior Girls Team

The Senior Girls team started the tournament with a tough defeat to Logos, however on day two and three the girls came back with their dominant style of play to win all their games and ended second in pool play.

The girls faced ISHCMC in the cross over game and played excellent basketball, connecting as a team and showing good patience. The girls earned their place in the finals once again facing Logos.

In the finals the girls started off with a strong showing but were down by 9 points. In the last few minutes of the game the girls were able to make a huge comeback and tie the game 19-19 to push it into overtime. Unfortuantely during overtime foul trouble got the better of the girls and they placed second overall.

The girls had a fantastic end to the season and were double finalists this year. Emily Meas and Eriha Izuka were named all tournament athletes for the Senior Girls.

Senior Boys B Team

The Senior Boys B team came into the tournament off of a win at the local finals.

Although they were less experienced than a majority of the teams at ASAC the boys did not back down in any games. They played well in pool play but were unable to win enough games to move them into the semi finals round.

Their final game for 5th and 6th was a strong performance as they won versus VSTC 36-17.

The all tournament pick for the Boys B was Ratasa Chhay
