Although we are all virtual learning at the moment, there are many things to celebrate and reflect on from our sporting success in Season 2. Taking a look back reminds us that although this month has been difficult and we are missing seeing our athletes on campus, the start of 2020 was excellent for our Northbridge International School Cambodia Nagas.

Junior football made history this year by having an A and B team for both the boys and girls for the first time ever. All 4 teams worked hard this season dedicating themselves to training and games.

The B teams had a chance to participate in the ISSAPP friendly tournament and matched some of the A squads they came up against, which shows a very bright future for our junior program. In the B team ISSAPP finals the boys ended in a well deserved 3rd place and the girls came 2nd place in a very exciting final. Due to the B teams strong performance they earned a spot in the ISSAPP A team finals which gave them even more to look forward to.

The girls A team had a steady season improving their team play and connection on the field with every game. As the regular season drew to a close the girls won many of their games and went into ISSAPP with a strong mentality. The girls had a great end to the season at the ISSAPP tournament earning 5th place and ending their season with a win.

The junior boys A team had another successful season winning all but one of their regular season games and showing excellent team strength. In local ISSAPP finals the boys played extremely well throughout and worked their way to the final once again this year. The boys played excellent football and were able to earn 1st place for the 3rd year in a row and round out the threepeat they were hoping for.

Senior Basketball was cut short as there was no ASAC to complete their season, however the regular ISSAPP season had some amazing highlights.

The senior boys basketball team had a very successful local season winning all but one of their regular games. Some were extremely close and high intensity showing the boys could play under pressure. At ISSAPP the boys were well ranked but lost in the first round by one point. Although this was a set back they went into the bronze game with determination to play to the best of their ability.

Working hard in the first half the game was close but in the second half the opponents took a lead which our boys could not make up. Ending in 4th the team looks to the future to continue to grow and develop with many athletes staying at NISC and playing next year.

The Senior Girls were a small but mighty force of a team. With 8 members the girls worked hard both in training and games to connect as a team and play high level basketball. The girls had a season of equal wins to losses but in the second half of the local season improved tremendously in their ability on the court as a unit.

The girls had some tough games at local finals and played the best basketball yet, showing their development throughout the season. The girls had an intense and extremely close bronze medal game and lost by only one basket to place 4th overall. The girls are commended on their resilience with such a small team and high level of effort throughout the season.

Although Season 3 is currently on pause we are hopeful that when we get back to school we will be enjoying sport together as soon as we can.
