Career Counselling and Guidance

Our dedicated Careers Counselling and Guidance Service supports all students from grade 9 to 14 with the decisions that they make regarding their secondary private education, examinations, preparing for university and career choices.

Making decisions about their future

A range of questionnaires and discussions will help your child start to make decisions about their future. By understanding their likes and dislikes, talents, abilities and interests, we can work with them to understand which subjects and interests they should pursue and how best to do this.

The self-assessment process for thinking about their future career choice is revisited every year to help them build and develop their awareness of different career choices. We also provide advice on appropriate extra-curricular activities and work experience for their career choice.

Selecting a university

Many of our students go on to excellent universities. We maintain excellent contacts with some of the world’s leading universities to help us give our students the best opportunities in life. We help them to select the best university for them by:

  • Offering workshops on how to select a university;
  • Providing information on a wide range of universities, including access to university prospectus or viewbooks, guides and web resources;
  • Inviting leading universities to our school to give presentations to our students;
  • Helping them to attend International College Fairs;
  • Helping them to make comparisons between universities and courses;
  • Making contact with current university students and alumni of universities that they are interested in to;
Applying to university

Our private school also help our students with the application process for university by:

  • Holding a university evening for parents and students to explain the university applications process;
  • Providing them with critical information such as application requirements, deadlines, fees and financial information;
  • Providing references, recommendations and transcripts of their academic achievements;
  • Delivering workshops on how to write outstanding personal statements for university applications, or how to prepare for essays and university interviews;
  • Conducting mock university interviews;
  • Preparation for any tests that they may have to sit in order to apply to a particular university or a particular country, such as the Scholastic Aptitude/Assessment Test (SAT), the American College Test (ACT), the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
Accepting a university place

Finally, our bilingual private school also provide advice and guidance on accepting a university place. This might include providing advice on university finances, or helping them change to a different university or course if their circumstances change or understand wait-list processes.
