LIS held 10th Anniversary Celebration

Léman International School Chengdu (LIS) held its 10^th Anniversary Celebration on the afternoon of October 12^th, 2019. The celebration was well attended by around 1000 guests, including parents, students and staff. Everyone enjoyed a perfect sunny day on our beautiful campus.

The celebration started at 13:30 pm with a student performance called ‘Don't Stop Believin’ by our Primary Student Band. These talented students are Christopher Wee, Melody Ho, Andrew Chen, Lia Hesser, Scarlet Zhang and Brian Ho.

Following the lovely performance, our Principal, Mr. Tom Ferguson, gave a very warm welcome to all the guests. Mr. Ferguson indicated that LIS’ growth was well supported by the local government, parents and families, as well as our parent company Nord Anglia Education. We look forward to continuing to work with our children and all involved to support our students’ learning and to ensure we become even more successful in the future.

Afterwards, the Chief Executive Officer of Nord Anglia Education, Mr. Andrew Fitzmaurice, sent a congratulatory video from the group headquarters in London.

Visitors watched a video with highlights of LIS’ 10-year history in Chengdu and then followed a ceremony for our student, Julian Wong, who is celebrating his 10^th year at the school. LIS Principal Mr. Tom Ferguson presented a certificate to Julian Wong and Julian gave a moving speech, which won bursts of applause with his sincerity.

Finally, our Primary Choir displayed their exceptional ability through their beautiful voices and dances.

After the introduction all guests were invited to participate in our exquisitely prepared games, specifically designed for our school. ‘Ocean of Knowledge’ was set to make students understand more about the power of knowledge; ‘Long jump’ and ‘High jump’ aimed at making our students get a deeper understanding of what our philosophy of ‘Be ambitious’ means; ‘Hello, 10!’ was designed to show guests the development of Léman; ‘Gather power’ was led by our art teacher Mrs. Kirsty Huskisson, to have our students arrange the special years using glass tiles made by themselves; ‘Refuse Classification’ aimed to let our students put efforts into environment protection; ‘Our blessings, our 10’ was designed to let our guests write down their hearty congratulations to Léman.
