Q:What brings you to Léman International School Chengdu?

I’m joining Léman International School Chengdu in order to experience teaching in a multicultural community. I am passionate about internationalism and aim to be an overall open-minded individual. What better place than at the top international school of Chengdu?

Q:Can you please introduce yourself to our LIS community?

I am Jonathan Rodrigues. I come from a city near Toronto which goes by the name of Mississauga located in Ontario, Canada. I began my teaching career with a big decision to change my life around. I had a dream to see the world and to change my career to something I can feel proud of. My solution was to become an international teacher teaching overseas and I do not regret one moment of it.

Q:Why did you choose Nord Anglia Education to expand your career?

I chose Léman International School Chengdu first and then learned more about Nord Anglia Education. Nord Anglia is an impression organization that has opened 73 schools in 30 different countries containing an impressive number of 67,000 students. Not only are these facts impressive, but Nord Anglia offers high quality international education which gives me the chance to learn how to better teach international students.

Q:How are you going to work with your students to encourage them “To Be Ambitious”?

I strongly believe that giving students guidance and then giving them choice is an important role in having students be ambitious. The student-centered approach allows students to use their voices and to express their interests in whatever is being learned. Teachers are there to guide and push students forward during the process and to have students realize their greatest potential. Even with failures comes great learning, let every step of the way lead to further ambitions.

Q:What do you like to do outside of school?

I enjoy travelling to different countries, learning about the cultures there and experiencing some of the different foods eaten there. I also keep in shape by exercising regularly at home or at the gym. When it comes to relaxing, I enjoy reading a good book or sitting back and playing a good video game.

Q: What do you plan to bring to the school?

I plan to bring my passion for learning and teaching together to a class that is not only a group of students, but a team. I will be not only a teacher for my students but someone there when they need it. I will be what the students need most.
