Grade 3 took on the challenge last week! What did home mean to us? If you asked our students before reading Stepping Stones they would have told you; my house has four walls and some windows. I play video games, LEGO and watch TV. However it soon became apparent to the Grade 3 students that home was so much more than the physical or material things that made up their living space. Home was family, friendship and love. It was a place they felt safe and secure. Home held many memories for our students especially as many of them move around the world. The Grade 3 students wrote some beautiful pieces of creative writing that showed deep thinking and reflection on what home really meant to them. The students also collected natural resources from around the school and then created a picture using the resources. They were able to gain inspiration from their own writing and further explain what home meant to them.
