Ryan comes from Scotland in the United Kingdom where he first started teaching primary school level children in 2016. Although Ryan has been teaching in China for the past three years, 2020 is his first year with Léman International School where he is currently teaching Year 3.
In 2013, Ryan developed a passion for education whilst working as a high school EAL English teacher with the EPIK organization in South Korea. Ryan graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Glasgow Caledonian University and obtained his ‘Full Registration’ status with The General Teaching Council for Scotland after finishing his PGDE in Primary Education at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. Ryan spent two years working in the state school sector before relocating to China where he worked as a primary teacher and department coordinator. Ryan enjoys researching current developments in education theory and strives to ensure that best teaching practices are always evident in his classroom.
Ryan has enjoyed exploring the many sights that Chengdu has to offer. Having relocated to Chengdu with his wife, Ryan is appreciating the experience of discovering a new city with such a wide variety of culture. In his free time, Ryan enjoys reading, going to the cinema, and playing football.
