DP Coordinator

James hails from New Zealand originally but moved to the UK when he was 10. He attended public schools in the UK before graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biotechnology from Heriot Watt university. Immediately after graduating from Heriot Watt he went into teacher training where he gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Secondary Science from Bishop Grosseteste college in Lincoln. He then entered the teaching profession as a Science teacher in Leeds.

Immediately after graduating from Heriot Watt he went into teacher training where he gained a Post Graduate Certificate in Education in Secondary Science from Bishop Grosseteste college in Lincoln. He then entered the teaching profession as a Science teacher in Leeds.

James spent 2 years working in Leeds before deciding to teach students internationally and explore new cultures. During his travels he has worked in Qatar, Austria, UAE and China. He first encountered IB teaching in Austria and is now in his 10th year of teaching in the MYP and DP. During his travels he has taken on many positions of responsibility eventually rising to DP coordinator at his School in Beijing.

He joined Léman International School, Chengdu in August 2019 as the new Diploma coordinator and is enjoying the experience so far. He is looking forward to helping guide Léman students through the DP programme and tasting all the wonderful Sichuan food he has heard so much about.
