A native of the New Zealand and the United Kingdom, James joined the school in 2019. Currently acting as the International Baccalaureate Diploma Coordinator and teaching in science in Secondary school, Mr. Sutcliffe has a wealth of experience in the education sector in a career spanning 15 years to date.
Since graduating from the Heriot Watt University with a Bachelors Degree in Marine Biotechnology in 2005, James qualified as a teacher with a specialism in secondary science. James has worked in a variety of school settings, teaching each year level from Yr 7 to Yr 13. James joined us from a school in Beijing where he was a well-regarded Diploma Coordinator.
Since joining Léman, Mr. Sutcliffe has taken a keen interest in the holistic development of our students. Teaching theory of knowledge and helping to guide students through their creativity, activity and service experiences.
James is enjoying working for Léman and living in Chengdu, which he describes as his favorite city in China. He has a keen interest in Science and encouraging students to develop their Scientific skills outside the classroom. Outside of school, he enjoys exploring the scenery and culture of China, playing and watching sports, reading science fiction novels, and scuba diving.
