Amy Matt Country Day School International School Costa Rica

Third Grade Teacher

Hello! I am Amy Matt, from Charlottesville, Virginia. I graduated cum laude from James Madison University in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree of Arts in International Affairs. In 2012, I traveled abroad to South Korea where I taught in a Montessori Kindergarten for two years.

While in South Korea, I discovered my passion for education and working with children. In 2015, I earned my Master’s in Teaching, pre-K through 6th grade at the University of Virginia Curry School of Education. There, I was able to develop my practice, and add effective approaches to learning such as Responsive Classroom to my “Teacher Toolkit.”

I have been fortunate to teach in a variety of settings including urban, rural, private, public, and international. I am excited to begin my third year as a third-grade teacher at Country Day School here in Costa Rica. I am proud to be a part of the CDS family, and am excited to have a great year!
