Hello! I am Amy Matt, from Charlottesville, Virginia. I studied International Affairs at James Madison University, which inspired me to travel abroad after graduating. I decided to try my hand at teaching English in South Korea, where I discovered my passion for education and working with children. I returned after two years and decided to get my Master’s in Teaching, in order to deepen my understanding of child development and teaching pedagogy.
I attended the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education, where I was able to develop my practice and add effective approaches to learning such as Responsive Classroom to my “Teacher Toolkit.”
I have been fortunate to teach in a variety of settings including urban, rural, private, public, and international.
I am excited to begin the next chapter of my journey in Costa Rica with my new husband, Tom, and my doggy-daughter, Pepper. I am proud to be a part of the CDS family, and am excited to have a great year!
