Over the next several years, I taught in both private and public schools in California in 1st and 4th grades. During my time working in the Palmdale School District, I received certification as a Language Development Specialist and taught in bilingual classrooms. I served on the district committee for Bilingual Education supporting teacher needs by providing in-servicing for the district.
I moved to Costa Rica with my family 19 years ago. I enjoyed many years teaching 3rd grade and later 1st grade in international private schools here. Some years later, to meet the needs of our family at that time, I decided to homeschool my three children. I homeschooled them for the next five years. Although It was by far the most challenging job I have ever had, I am thankful for the many precious learning experiences we shared.
I chose Country Day School for my children, believing it was the best educational choice available. I followed them here six years ago. Although my own children have all graduated from Country Day School and are pursuing their professional careers in the States, I am grateful for the opportunity I have to continue teaching here at Country Day School.
I have enjoyed teaching 3rd-grade students for the past several years. I am passionate about challenging students and daily encouraging them towards academic success and personal growth.
This year I am teaching 2nd grade for the very first time… and loving it!
