Country Day School - Anika Krause

English Language Arts Teacher

I  grew up in a suburb of New York City and knew I wanted to teach from an early age. I would even hold school for my teddy bears and teach them math! I then attended Northeastern University where I studied English Literature and Secondary Education. Following an internship in Dublin, Ireland, I began working in Boston Public Schools and started my career as a paraprofessional and then as an assistant teacher of 7th grade English.

My name is Anika Krause and this is my 3rd year here at CDS. This year, I transitioned from middle school, where I was previously teaching 7th and 8th grade English and Drama, to join the high school team. I have really been enjoying the rich conversations and complex texts I have been able to engage in with my Juniors and Seniors so far this year, and look forward to continuing to support their growth and help them strengthen their analysis and expression as the year progresses.

As an educator, I firmly believe in the importance of educating the whole child and providing challenging, engaging work that inspires critical thinking. I am committed to creating engaging, real-life applicable learning experiences that help prepare the future leaders of our world.

When I am not in the classroom, you can find me hiking, baking, or cuddling up on the couch with my beloved cats, Peanut butter and Jelly.
