NIS Jakarta Community Poject

Service is a well-established part of life at our international standard school, especially the strong partnerships that have been developed with the local community.

The NIS Community Project (also known as the Scholarship students), is an opportunity for the NIS community to give back to the local community in which we are located. Over the years, Pak Raden Hutagalung, took a lead on this local project and invested regular time and energy on initiatives so benefit the lives of the children living locally around the school.

Local children who participate in this program attend activities after school on Wednesdays to develop their English Language and on Fridays for Physical Education. The Saturday football teams and Tuesday training are also a valuable part of this program. This partnership with the local community is something we will continue to build upon as the school develops, in line with the values of Nord Anglia Education to provide Service by ‘giving back’ through time and purposeful engagement.

Moving forward, we will be looking to increase the opportunities for our children to genuinely connect with the local community, giving service and learning from and with their local peers. We want to invest time in this area as we strongly believe that, through participation in service activities, students gain a good understanding of the issues that face the local and wider community and will be armed with the skills to make a difference or influence change – now and in their future lives. We will also be looking for parental involvement and ideas so please feel free to contact us if you would like to get involved.
