Biography
Sophie has a passion for art and design, her approach to teaching is creative and engaging. She began her international career 14 years ago in Russia where she taught at the British International School, Moscow. Sophie helped develop the Accelerated English Program and was Literacy Coordinator for the Upper Primary.
Seeking warmer weather Sophie taught at the Bangkok International Preparatory School. During the two years in Thailand Sophie was a member of the Literacy and Numeracy Stream Program and assisted with the management of the school website. Sophie returned to Australia where she obtained qualifications in the International Baccalaureate and taught in top IB private schools for 5 years in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane.
Sophie believes that learning can be fun and puts this at the forefront of her teaching. Her main goal is to engage and inspire children and to motivate students to do their best and extend their own personal limits. Sophie enjoys working to a very high standard in schools with a strong sense of community and family. She has a particular interest in the pastoral care of students, keeping them at the forefront of her teaching.
Having grown up in a multicultural family with a passion for travelling and adventure, Sophie also enjoys cooking having been taught by her German father, a trained pastry-chef. She loves nature, painting and exploring new places off the beaten track. Sophie, her husband Matt and their three children ages 5, 7 and 9 are excited to join the NAS Jakarta family and call Indonesia home.
