Matthew Woodward

Academic Director

A leader with over 16 years of experience in international school settings, before joining ISR in July of 2014, Matt Woodward was the elementary and early childhood assistant principal and curriculum coordinator at the International School Nido de Aguilas. Matt oversaw all elements of student, academic and social emotional learning, including building the structures for professional development.

Prior to joining Nido, Matt held leadership positions and a teaching position with San Roberto International School from 2004-2008. Matt helped ISR transition to standards-based reporting, a balanced literacy framework, and the use of innovative mathematics practice.  Matt's first educational was as a grade 4 teacher in the Cherry Creek School District in Denver, Colorado.

Matt has led numerous professional development trainings ranging from setting up an innovative, student-centered learning environment, building a reading and writing workshop, implementing best practices in mathematics as well as working with parents around Positive Discipline and supporting learners at home.

Matt's wife is also an educator, currently working at UdeM.  His three children join him at the VA campus.  As a family they enjoy reading, exploring rocks and bugs, learning languages, and traveling around to see the world and meet new people.  Matt is thrilled to be part of the ISR team!
