Hundreds of Nord Anglia students auditioned in the 35 schools for a once in a lifetime chance to be selected. The Global Orchestra will allow young musicians from around the globe to learn from each other, to perform together and to build their creativity and confidence as performers and global citizens.
Culminating in a performance at the DiMenna Center for Classical Music, the summer school will create outstanding opportunities for students to develop their musical skills, knowledge and understanding through rehearsals, workshops delivered by experts and peer-to-peer learning. They will experience the vibrant culture of New York and benefit from a bespoke workshop delivered at The Juilliard School, a world leader in performing arts education.
Head of Secondary Music Emily Andrews is thrilled that our students have been given this amazing opportunity.
"To go through the audition process is good preparation for anyone who wants to continue performing or have a career in the arts throughout their lives. Since this was announced, all the participating students had a goal and worked hard with a determined attitude to meet the requirements and the auditions were of an exceptionally high standard. I am thrilled for Sally, Kevin and Mary to have been selected and they will be perfect ambassadors for the music department and the school."
The three Regents students will be members of the groups of 45 instrumentalists and 36 singers who will be travelling to New York in June. All students who auditioned should feel very proud of themselves as standards were high and the selection panel both within Regents and then Nord Anglia Education had to make many difficult choices.
It is fair to say that we at Regents are immensely proud of Mary, Kevin and Sally their achievement and will follow their experiences very closely.
