British Physics Olympiad: Regents’ students compete in Oxford University event
When asked, “Who wants to sit a very difficult Physics paper simply for fun?” it takes a special kind of student to unhesitatingly put themselves forward.
When asked, “Who wants to sit a very difficult Physics paper simply for fun?” it takes a special kind of student to unhesitatingly put themselves forward.However, that is exactly what Jeen and Osman in Year 11 did, and consequently took part in the British Physics Olympiad. This is a competition organized by Oxford University with the aim of engaging and challenging the most talented Physics students around the Globe.
The paper was exceptionally challenging, and Mr O’Byrne has since used some of the content to stretch the minds of his IB Physics students! Participating in activities like the Olympiad is an indication of a student’s willingness to learn more about the subject, and their desire to develop their thinking skills.
Osman and Jeen joined a very select and adventurous group of students worldwide who participated, and they should be extremely proud of their results – Osman achieved a commendation, and Jeen a bronze medal! Well done!
