One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Year 2!

28 October 2015

What a week it has been for Year 2, their learning has entered a new stratosphere since beginning our new ‘From A to B’ topic.

We began by gathering up all our existing knowledge about different forms of transport and travel and suggested things we were curious about and what we would like to learn more about.

As the week rocketed onwards, the students then designed and constructed their own space ships, with some very unique and wonderful designs. Using these models as a stimulus we researched how these forms of transport differed to others from the past and present, and how human life has changed over the past 100 years since the invention of the engine.

The students have set themselves up well for the rest of the topic, where we will be learning about the impact humans have had on the planet, how to capture motion and speed in art and how the invention of the wheel changed everything.

This is an exciting time in our topic and if any parents feel they can enrich the students learning experience, we very much welcome your involvement.
