Information and reminders
Please could we ask parents to regularly check Class Dojo for messages, learning resources, school messages and updates about what your children have been learning. If you do not have access to Class Dojo, please contact your child’s class teacher.
We are trying to encourage the children to take pride in their school uniform. Please check the school website for more information about the correct uniform attire. It would be great if all uniforms were clearly labelled so that we can return any misplaced items.

English
In English, we will begin the week by reading the story ‘The Yellow Submarine.’ The story is an adaptation of the famous Beatles movie which features their song ‘The Yellow Submarine.’ The children will practice orally retelling the story in preparation for doing a written version. They will work as a team to create a story path and create their own story actions to help them remember the story in detail.
Key Focus: using story language to remember key details and events
Mathematics
In Mathematics, the children will solve one-step problems involving multiplication and division. They will calculate answers using concrete objects, pictorial representations and arrays.
Key vocabulary: calculation, calculate, odd, even, multiply, multiplication, times, product, repeated addition, array, divide, division, groups, grouping and sharing
Topic
Next week, the learning goal we will be exploring will be ‘enquiry.’ We will use the Beatles song ‘The Yellow Submarine’ as our stimulus.
The children will begin to look at the work of different artists from the 60s. Over the week the children will begin experimenting and exploring how to mix paints and create new colours. We will discuss how different artwork can make us feel. The children will be encouraged to comment on the textures, patterns and mediums used.
