    Year 4 Teacher and Assistant Head of Primary

    Lucy Ellen Marshall

    Lucy was born and grew up in Manchester, North West England. In 2011 Lucy graduated from Liverpool John Moores University with a BA in Primary Education. She spent the first five years of her teaching career working in two culturally diverse schools in inner-city Manchester. Working at NAIS Pudong was Lucy’s very first international school experience. She is looking forward to her third year at NAIS.

    Lucy has primarily worked in Key Stage Two and after two years was successful in being appointed as Key Stage 2 Leader. During her fifth teaching year Lucy was promoted to being Assistant Headteacher with school wide responsibility for assessment, English as an Additional Language and International New Arrivals. Lucy’s experience so far has enabled her to work with students from many different backgrounds and cultures, something she is excited to be able to continue to do in an international setting.

    Christopher Kalff

    Christopher obtained a BA in Primary Education at Curtin University in Perth, Australia and immediately moved to Indonesia where he started his international teaching career in the year 2000.  Since then, for the past 17 years, he has worked in countries all over the world, including India, Switzerland, Australia, Spain and Egypt.  Christopher has experience teaching at different year levels in the primary and middle school and also enjoys getting involved in all spheres of school life, particularly working with students of all age groups through the House System, Student Leadership and programmes focused on sports or outdoor pursuits such as the International Award.     At NAIS Pudong he has held various roles including Year Group Leader, Year 4 and Year 6 Teacher and Year 7 Computing Teacher.  Being passionate about the importance of the Computing curriculum and with the speed in which it is growing and developing in our everyday lives, Christopher has spent a lot of time developing this program here at NAIS.  This has led to his position of Primary ICT Subject Leader and Whole School ICT Coordinator

    Christopher and his wife, also a teacher, have been at NAIS Pudong for 4 years now and have loved living in South East Asia, a region of the world where they both grew up and of which they are very fond. They have loved the opportunity of exploring both China and the many countries that surround it. They have also loved living in Shanghai, China, one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

    Kerem Hussein

    Kerem undertook his BA Hons degree in Primary Education at Bishop Grosseteste University where he achieved a First-Class Honours award and was presented with the Chancellor and University Council award for academic excellence. During this time, he developed a wide understanding of teaching philosophies, pedagogies and educational research while experiencing a varied range of educational settings including small village schools, large inner-city multicultural settings and even an opportunity to undertake teaching opportunities in the care home system of the Transylvanian region of Romania.

    After completing his degree, Kerem moved back to his home county of Norfolk where he has taught for the past three years. He continued to undertake further professional development and responsibilities which enabled him to successfully create and develop an effective and practical profile of science as part of his Science Co-ordinator role at his most recent post. He has been passionately motivated to develop and apply his skills in an international setting and was driven to pursue an opportunity at a school as highly regarded and respected as NAIS Pudong.
