After gaining an English language teaching qualification, Pam started her career in Turkey, where she taught English to Turkish children and adults for 3 years. This gave her the inspiration to gain her primary teaching degree. She achieved a BA QTS at Canterbury Christchurch University in 2002. Pam went on to teach for over 12 years in the UK. She taught across the whole of the primary age range, but mostly with Lower KS2 classes at both good and outstanding schools. While teaching in the UK, she took on the roles of DT, Science, and ICT Co-ordinator. Pam joined NAIS Pudong in August 2015 as a Year 4 teacher. On top of her teaching role, she also co-ordinates the Student Leadership, which includes School Council Representatives, Play Pals and Lunch-time Club leaders. Pam really loves being in Shanghai and has felt warmly welcomed by staff, parents and children.
As a keen skydiver for nearly 18 years, back in the UK, Pam competed both locally and nationally with her team, as well as instructing at weekends. In the absence of parachute clubs in China, Pam took on the much more docile sport of dragon boating, which she hopes to continue this year. Her biggest passion since arriving in Shanghai has been to embrace the Chinese culture and as well as enjoying the local cuisine, she has travelled extensively within this wonderful country.
