Comments have started to come in from parents, grandparents and the children themselves, as they explore the journals. It is a great way for us to celebrate our children’s learning and support them as they develop and grow as strong, confident and reflective learners.
Here are just a few of the lovely comments that have been added to children’s journals or received form parents regarding Tapestry:
“I have thoroughly enjoyed looking through the pictures and videos of Thomas in Pre-Nursery. It's wonderful to be able to see what he has been up to and the progress he is making. What is also fantastic is that his grandparents back in the UK are able to share in this, and have been able to add their own messages. It's a brilliant tool!” (Thomas’ Mum in Pre-Nursery)
Great counting Jake. Well done. Keep up the good work love Grandma and Grandad xxx” (Jake’s Grandparents in the UK)
“I was just so impressed by Tapestry for so many reasons. I was impressed to see how much my little girl is thriving in Nursery; every photo shows her laughing, smiling and revelling in her learning experiences. I was impressed by the diversity of activities and I was also impressed by how much time, energy, professionalism and commitment the Early Years team put into ensuring our little ones have the best experiences they can.
Tapestry allows me a view of Elodie's day that I have never had before allowing me to really talk about her day and experiences. It also allows members of the wider family to see her enjoying herself and helps with Facetime conversations no end.” (Elodie’s Mother)
"My whole family here in China and back in the UK have loved the new Tapestry learning journal. It is a great way to see how our son is doing at school and it makes us feel like we are actually the classroom with him. I particularly like how we as parents can offer responses on assessments. Is a great way to monitor learning and I am sure we will look back over it in years to come. We appreciate the hard work put in by the teachers. Thanks for introducing in into BISS Puxi." (Isaac’s mother, Nursery)
Our aim is to encourage more communication between home and school regarding your child’s on going learning and development. We trust that Tapestry will support this and provide easy access to your child’s work, and enable you and your family to share in the rich and exciting activities your children take part in here at BISS Puxi.
Several parents have also asked for further information regarding the assessments that teachers are including in the observations. These assessments are taken from ‘Early Years Outcomes’ (published by the Department of Education UK). To view this document please download below.
We will be arranging a coffee morning in January 2014 for you to discuss any questions that you may have about Tapestry or Early Years Cubs in general. We will also be having our teacher/parent conferences on the 19 February, where you can discuss your child’s learning and development with their class teacher.
The Tapestry online journal is a new initiative for us all and therefore your comments, feedback and any ideas for improvement are most welcome.
