A Day of Demolition for Year 2

16 October 2014

This week Year 2 had a day all about demolition, as part of their themed learning topic around buildings.

  • Demolition Day for Year 2 at the British International School Shanghai, Puxi
  • Year 2 Demolition Day at the British International School Shanghai, Puxi

In the morning the children were given the opportunity to move around the Year 2 classrooms working with different teachers and learning about different aspects of buildings.

In Miss Davies classroom the children were builders and created their own tool belts. In Mrs McErlain’s room the children became architects and designed their own buildings. In Mrs Fisher’s room the children created their own demolition tools using paper and masking tape and then headed to see Miss O’Connor where they made their own safety helmets.

Finally, they headed to Miss Pitchley’s room to demolish the buildings they had created in the previous week, which you can read about by following the link below, and to Miss Williams’s room to see videos of other buildings being demolished.

The children really enjoyed the experience and were able to produce some really good diary entries describing what they did and how they felt.
