The objective of the evening was to give the students performance practice in a concert atmosphere so they can gain experience for their final recitals. This will be especially useful for the Year 13 IB students whose upcoming IB recitals must be performed in front of an audience and recorded as part of their coursework.
The audience was entertained by pianists, guitarists, vocalists, violinists and a flutist who played their material with mature confidence and musicianship.
There was a vast repertoire, ranging from Radiohead to Haydn to Albeniz to Chopin, all musically stamped with interpretation and audience communication throughout.
Mr Game, Head of Secondary Music was proud of all the students who performed:
“Every student embraced the opportunity to show how good they are at performing on their principle instrument, even with a big audience watching! Well done everyone!”
The students themselves really appreciated the chance to perform in this environment:
“Ït was exciting to see all the GCSE and IB students perform at such a high level. I was nervous before performing, but got excited when I was playing!” Christine Trinder, Year 12
“It was a great pleasure to have the chance to perform” Natalie Meehcam, Year 11
“The Music was impressive and lots of people told me that they really enjoyed the evening. It was great fun to be a part of!” Joungi Ahn, Year 10
