BISS Has Got Talent – What a Show!

02 February 2015

Last Thursday saw 15 acts performing at BISS Has Got Talent and a range of great prizes up for grabs in the Silent Auction, all to raise money for projects in Tanzania.

  • Students at the British International School Shanghai, Puxi put on a talent show and silent auction to raise money for their projects in Tanzania.

Altogether the students raised over 14,000 RMB from the evening, with 7,000 coming from the Silent Auction alone!

We saw lots of talented singers and musicians either playing in acoustic and rock bands or performing  solos or duets, dance acts and even a performance of a poem. The night was brilliantly compared by Thomas and Arush and the judges did a great job, even if the audience didn’t always agree with them!

Congratulations to the winners:

1st prize: IB students James Lee 13S, Georgia Hollis 13B and Jason Liddiard 13I who performed an Artic Monkeys song
2nd prize: Lizzie White 9I who composed her own song
3rd prize: Asia Carra 4S, Macken Lee 6P, Mitchell Lee 8P (because Austin Chan 6P was absent) and Joey Wee 6U

All the money raised will go directly to fund projects in Tanzania that we will be working on during our expedition, from building goat sheds for poor villages to refurbishing classrooms at the Imbaseni School. Before the show started people were getting involved in the Silent Auction with some great prizes being bid on and the most generous bids being placed for the golf tuition and the mathematics tuition. If you were a winner, Ms Rudd will be contacting you by the end of today, so make sure you check your emails.

We would like to say a big thank you to the PTA for running the bar at the event, to the Enterprise ECA who helped with selling tickets and running the bake sale, to the judges Mr Kelly, Mr Hill, Miss Mitchell and Holly from Year 12, to Ms Kane and the music department who helped with the running of the event and to all those who came along!

We are now looking forward to the Tanzania non-uniform day on Friday! Don’t forget to come dressed with a touch of safari and donate your 20RMB.
