Apply Now To Go On The Next Tanzania Expedition

After the great success of this spring’s Tanzania Expedition, we are ready to launch the trip again for the next academic year.

  • Students from the British International School Shanghai, Puxi campus visit a local school in Tanzania.

Images from the Tanzania Expedition that some Year 9 and 10 students went on earlier this year.

This annual expedition is a chance for our students to interact and work together with students from other Nord Anglia Education schools around the world as they stay at the camp together.

Leaving at the very end of October 2015, students will be given the opportunity to work on valuable projects in the Tanzanian community, go on a once-in-a-lifetime safari in the Tarangire National Park and visit local villages around the campsite.

The trip is open to current Year 8 and 9 students, who have all received a letter and application form containing more details. This year, we will require all pupils to apply for a place on the Tanzania Expedition, as we anticipate there to be a high demand and places are limited.

Students have until Wednesday 27 May to return their application forms to Miss Rudd or Mr Hill and will find out shortly afterwards if they have been successful. Best of luck!

Why should you apply?

We asked some of the students who went on the trip this year why people should apply…

“Tanzania was the BEST experience of my life. Not only did we meet new people but the joy on the kids’ faces when they saw you just filled you with happiness. It is 100% worth going on the trip.” - Arabella McCausland, Year 9

“I really enjoyed visiting the primary school .The kids had so little and when we brought them the toys they were so happy. It was really enjoyable to be able to do that, it gave the trip a sense of purpose and helping others. They used literally everything they had in terms of food resources: if we could reduce our waste then others could have more.” - Asia Fernandez-Zhou, Year 10.

“It was amazing to help the community and to see the smiles on the children’s faces when we were helping them.” - Jeanne Gandon, Year 9

“There were so many new experiences in Tanzania, but the thing I enjoyed most was helping people who had a real need for it.” - Woohyun Hwang, Year 9

“I really enjoyed and felt that moment of joy when you help the locals and change their lives” - Brian Kim, Year 9
