Update from Year 5 Residential in Nabei Hu

11 June 2015

Day 2 in Nanbei Hu was another day full of challenges and adventures, read on to hear what they’ve been doing.

  • Year 5 students from the British International School Shanghai, Puxi on their residential trip to Nanbei Hu.

The sun was shining on us for the second day of our residential trip.

We had a morning of 'firsts’ at Nanbei Hu. The navy group became the first to submerge themselves while kayaking: they took 'splash each other' to a whole new level, meanwhile, maroon group became the first to put themselves in date of birth order in silence! The yellow group were communing with nature and spotted a small reptile on their journey this morning.

Much fun was had by all with plenty of mud and broad smiles all around.

Some of our Year 5 girls were reflecting on the day’s activities and wanted to share their thoughts and advice:

“Believe in yourself, challenge yourself and put yourself forward for different things. Put all your effort into it but don't force yourself, so that you don't want to do any other activities. We would like to let you know that everyone is having a great time here and we hope that you are too.”

We have now come to the end of another successful day at Nanbei Hu. Tonight's dinner was a great BBQ with marshmallows to end, followed by the extremely successful night treasure hunt.  You could have heard a pin drop as teams competed to pick up 'treasure' in the dark (some of which was booby trapped) without being caught by the light. All in all a great game!

The students are now sound asleep, yet again tired but happy after a full day of activities.

Tomorrow we bid farewell to Nanbei Hu after our final round of fun.

Goodnight all, see you tomorrow!
