Group 1 have enjoyed a leisurely ride along the Li river, and some pupils had their photos taken with traditional cormorant fishermen. Others went below ground and into the heart of one of the karst mountains, getting wet and muddy exploring the various cave formations and splashing around in the mud bath. A sweaty afternoon working the fields of Dahebei village was rewarded with a BBQ and bonfire.
Today we have been biking, exploring Yangshou and are currently cooking dinner at the Cloud 9 cooking school. We will be going to a Kung Fu lesson later on this evening.
Group 1 had their last day in the grasslands today. After a stormy night (complete with thunder and lightning!) we woke up and after breakfast pupils got straight into the activities their groups hadn't done yet - wrestling, Archery or team-building games. We also had the finale of the wrestling - the overall winners were Lucie Maistrelli and Naya Thomsen! We then had another great lunch and said goodbye to the wonderful insight team here. We are now on a 5-hour bus trip to a completely different landscape - the desert! Everyone is looking forward to that (and also to hot showers in the hotel!)
We have been tree planting today and have created a mini forest of 45 trees to help the environment. We then took a five hour journey to the next part of our stay in the grasslands. Tonight we enjoyed an evening of traditional music and performances.
It was hot today and we all enjoyed the water sports at the Olympic Sailing Park including paddle boarding, completing an aquatic assault course and rafting. Lots of sun cream was applied all day!
We were rock climbing today at the Tianchi Canyon Park, challenging but very rewarding and the kids have done amazingly well! They are now doing fun activities and will be having a BBQ tonight before going to bed in a hotel made of shipping containers!
Year 12 are well but due to limited connectivity haven't been able to update us on all they've been doing at the camp recently. We hope to get some more pictures from them soon when they get back to good WiFi areas.
